If you’re like the rest of Miami, you probably don’t know what you’re doing yet this weekend. Lucky for you, it’s Friday and we’ve got your line-up of what to do right here with our brand spankin’ new weekend guide. On every Friday, World Red Eye will be bringing you a specially selected list of the hottest things going on for the weekend. Some of them are things we’ll also be at, covering all the action, and some of them we won’t be at but still think they’re going to be awesome. There’s so much constantly going on in Miami- in every area from DJs and musical acts to the arts and dining scene. There’s no reason to ever be sitting at home with nothing to do when we’ve got the great city of Miami as our backyard! We’re taking all the work out of it for you, and simplifying it down to this very essential list of things you need to check out. Maybe you can’t make all of them, but at least you know what’s going on and can pick one or two.

This weekend is the first weekend of March (already?!) and just because the wine and food festival is over, doesn’t mean things are slowing down by any means. Things are just getting started. Get ready for what is one of the busiest months of the year for Miami with tons of things to do. Before the music madness of March gets going later in the month, here are four of the best things to do this weekend. It’s got a little bit of everything from film to food to a music festival. Miami International Film Festival Kick Off Party

Tonight kicks off the 30th annual Miami International Film Festival. Before planning what films to see, head to the opening party tonight to get your fix of Ultimat vodka, delicious bites, and put your dancing and singing skills to the test. Be sure to dress to impress ladies and gents, and you’ll have a chance to win a $1,200 shopping spree to Osklen boutique.

Feast with the Beasts

Come to the Miami Metro Zoo for dinner tonight, and no, you’re not dinner. Feast with the Beasts is an annual event where you get the rare chance to dine with the animals for a night. Tons of restaurants will be there serving up savory food, sweets, and drinks with music, entertainment, and animals out for you to meet. One of the featured restaurants is Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar, a spot that’s one of a kind in Miami and has gathered quite a following. For the meat lovers, Shula’s 347 Grill from the infamous Don Shula will also be there. Buy a VIP ticket and you can pretend you’re Simba and dine in the “Lion’s Den.” Dress code? Safari chic.

Travie McCoy at LIV

For a late night music fix, head to LIV at the Fontainebleau tonight. Gym Class Heroes singer Travie McCoy and The Bat Squad will be performing live, featuring AX and Tim William with sounds by the lady DJ Kayper. It’s sure to be a Friday night performance to remember.

Nine Mile Music Festival

The 20th annual Nine Mile Music Festival is back this Saturday at Virginia Key Park. The 12-hour music festival honoring the great Bob Marley begins at 2pm on Saturday afternoon and will have performances by Stephen Marley, Damian Marley, 2 Chaniz, Future, and other reggae and hip-hop artists. General admission tickets are about 50 bucks for a full day and night of jammin.
