In case you aren’t familiar, the Miami Made Festival is a yearly event at the Adrienne Arsht Center where local, emerging Miami artists showcase their talents through performance art. This year, the six-day series of events was presented by father-son hotelier duo Alan and Nathan Leiberman. For its fifth season, the Miami Made Festival ran from February 26 to March 3 with free events like staged play readings, dance showcases on-site at the Arsht, and pop-up performances at the new Riviera South Beach.

Good, God, Go Rehearsal in the Carnival Studio Theater

Miami, FL – February 26, 2013 – World Red Eye got a peek inside the rehearsal of Good, God, Go at the Carnival Studio Theater in the Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Arsht Center. This was one of the dance showcases that was held on Saturday with two showings. Interestingly enough, Good, God, Go was first shown at the Miami Made Festival in 2010 as a work in progress piece. This year the completed performance is a dance trio that asks the question: “How much force is required to get the canary out of the coal mine?” It’s an exercise in energy, enthusiasm, and endurance that uses film, a cappella singing in the dark, a marching band, and a wooden installation of over 50 canaries created by sculptor Laura Luna.

Miami Made Kick Off at The Riviera Hotel

Miami Beach, FL – February 25, 2013 – The Miami Made Festival kicked off its 2013 event with a little stint at the Riviera Hotel South Beach, which is a cutesy boutique hotel undergoing an expansion to open a third building in April. The 2013 festival hosts Alan Lieberman and Nathan Lieberman came out to get the artsy party started. Everyone in the courtyard had Bombay Sapphire drinks in hand and enjoyed some Asian bites thanks to Kung Fu Sushi while watching a cabaret performance. The two days after the kick-off party had two pop-up performances in the Riviera courtyard, where Project Theater performed their play “Extended Stay.”
