Lincoln O’Barry, Ben Stiller, Richard O’Barry, & Fisher Stevens

New York, NY – July 15, 2009 – Todays Flashback takes us back one year to a private screening that Ben & Jerry Stiller hosted for The Cove in New York. The founder of Netscape, Jim Clark, helped fund the movie and appointed Fisher Stevens to co-prodouce the film. Special guests beside the Stillers & Christine Taylor included Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Matthew Modine, Michael Lang (Woodstock founder), Adrian Grenier, Isabel Lucas, Calvin Klein, Lee Daniels, & Selita Ebanks.

The Cove is a 2009 American documentary film that describes the annual killing of dolphins in a National Park at Taiji, Wakayama, in Japan from an anti–dolphin-hunting campaigner’s point of view. The film highlights that the number of dolphins killed in the Taiji dolphin hunting drive is several times greater than the number of whales killed in the Antarctic, and reports that 23,000 dolphins and porpoises are killed in Japan every year in the country’s whaling industry. The migrating dolphins are herded into a hidden cove where they are netted and killed by means of spears and knives over the side of small fishing boats. [source]

Its amazing to know that since The Cove was released a little over a year ago, it has gone on to win countless awards including Best Documentary at the Academy Awards. Recently it has been announced that a follow up show to the movie will premier on Animal Planet and will be directed by my longtime friend Lincoln O’Barry, son of Richard O’Barry.
