Tonight’s Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs starts off the much-anticipated series right here in Miami at the AmericanAirlines Arena, making it the Heat’s third year in a row at the Finals. Miami Beach, FL – May 10, 2013 – Today is a very exciting, special day because we’re celebrating the 3 Year Anniversary of WorldRedEye.com. This website has become an epicenter of the latest happenings around the world in just three short years- which is quite an accomplishment. But it’s not exactly a surprise when you realize it was all started by the renowned celebrity photographer of South Beach: Seth Browarnik. He was one of the very first to introduce digital photography and became most known for his work in Ocean Drive magazine, capturing the biggest names at the hottest parties. After 10 years with the magazine, Browarnik decided to expand his creative outlet into the digital world as well as print. Since only about one to two percent of the photos he and his staff were taking actually ended up going to press, a website was the perfect solution for the rest of the thousands of photos that were being filed away into an archive.
This was how World Red Eye was born. Initially, Browarnik had only a couple other guys working for him, and created the website to give these young photographers a chance to show off their artistic side. It was conceived as a creative outlet for them to experiment with. But the website couldn’t thrive on artsy photos alone, and given the fact these guys were covering all kinds of events and parties around town, it turned into a way of showing what everyone was up to. Within four to six months, the site began to transform tremendously, and it was very clear what people wanted to see more of. There was an excitement to the nightlife, the parties, and of course, the celebrities. It wouldn’t have been possible to continue to deliver these photos to a growing reader base without the help of our friends and clients- from the PR agencies and the entire hospitality industry to the nightclub owners and the support of many celebrities and media outlets as well. Within the past three years, World Red Eye has grown tremendously, and began to take shape from a celebrity photo agency to a content creator that specializes in shooting events and celebrities around the world.
Celebrate this exciting anniversary with us as we see how the blog has evolved from day one to where it is today, and where it’s headed for the future.
WRE Launch Party
May 14, 2010 was the day WorldRedEye.com went live, and it was the most thrilling moment for everyone involved. We finally got to see the fruition of our labors come to life and go viral. This of course caused for a big launch party celebration. The Raleigh Hotel held the big bash, and everyone was there. From family and friends to celebrities, making it the best party of 2010. Felix da Housecat, DJ Irie, David Barton, and Ruckus were just some of the famous faces who came out to celebrate. It was even launched live on NBC6, making quite an impression from the very first night.

First Posts on the Blog
While the site went live in May, the WRE team started compiling posts before then so readers would have more content readily available to them. It was a gradual transfer from the content on the WRE Facebook Page, where Browarnik and his photographers would post one photo from selected events they were shooting to keep everyone in the loop. This was how the first posts on the site were formatted as well- with one singular photo and a brief description of what the guys were up to. The very first posts that went up were from the South Beach Wine & Food Festival 2010- check them out below.
As mentioned before, the original idea behind the site was to give the photographers a creative outlet to let people know what they were up to- whether shooting around town, at an event, or during their travels. The first year had photos like the ones below, giving a glimpse into the day-to-day of these creative minds. You can notice how different the composition and formatting of the posts was just three years ago compared to now.
In 2010, WRE introduced another cool component to the website to keep things fresh and interesting for the growing reader base: guest bloggers. And not just any guest bloggers. Because WRE has such great ongoing relationships with many celebrities and notables around town, we had “Apprentice” star and real estate mogul Katrina Campins, New York Knicks reporter and “TODAY Show” contributor Jill Martin, and Miami Heat’s own DJ Irie. These three brought a whole other element to the blog with their unique posts, and readers got to hear from them first hand, covering a variety of topics. Again, take note of the way photos were first sized and watermarked for the site, which is very different from today’s style.

Our Biggest Times of Year
The WRE team is always on the go, whether it be in Miami where we’re based, or in other parts of the country- even the world. But there are a couple times of year that get us so excited because we’re flooded with tons of things to cover. Every year, Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival are the biggest spring time events in Miami, while winter has Art Basel Miami Beach and the biggest New Years Eve blow-outs. We also cover festivals around the country like Coachella and Lollapalooza, plenty of fashion events in the big apple like New York Fashion Week, and even abroad like the original Art Basel in Switzerland. If you just look at the site, you’ll see we’re everywhere. That’s why we’re World Red Eye. We love being based in Miami for these incredible times of year, but we don’t miss a beat in all the other great cities. Here’s just a handful of photos from our landmark events over the past three years.
What has come to be another huge component of World Red Eye is the nightlife coverage. When Seth Browarnik started the site, he brought with him his expertise of shooting clubs and parties. As the WRE team started to add more of this onto the blog, there became an increasing demand to see more. What separates us from the masses is our selectivity. We don’t shoot everyone and everything. It’s about capturing the energy at the best events and nightclubs out there, and the people that make them a success. We photograph the right people- mixing celebrities with VIPs and socialites. It’s not about showing everybody and every shot we take. We’re picky for a reason, because if we weren’t, we’d be just like everyone else. It’s all about the look- having the most beautiful, hip, and unique people on our site.
Another unique aspect that brought a new look to the blog was when friends of our shared their photographs from their travels. From the Peruvian Amazon to India, we’ve had contributors show us their journeys through their eyes. Not only does it educate our readers about foreign destinations, but it also enhances the artistic and visual aspects of World Red Eye, making for a more well-rounded blog. We’re looking forward to bringing more of this back into rotation in the very near future, so stay tuned!

Another currently evolving part of World Red Eye is the added amount of stories and editorial features. Those who have started following us since 2010 have noticed a shift in content, as we’re bringing more exclusive and inside stories to our readers. What started originally as a portfolio to show our most artistic photos, has now turned into a creative content agency, an online publication. The goal was always to create a voice within our community and generate a cult-like following as we educate the younger generations. We not only cover what’s hip and “in”, but we’re also a visual diary of where we are in the world on any given week. It started out visual and will always be predominantly visual, but we also want to expand on that and give people and experience where they will have words to go with what they’re seeing. We’re adding more extended captions to photos, interviewing interesting people, writing stories and profiles, and giving a more comprehensive view of our community. We’re so excited to keep turning this into a bigger part of the site and bringing you more of the features below!
