4th Annual Reception for the PAMM Fund for African American Art at PAMM

Thursday, February 23rd, 2017

Miami, FL – February 21, 2017 – Pérez Art Museum Miami’s Fourth Annual Reception for the PAMM Fund for African American Art, Alberto Ibargüen, President and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, announced a $200,000 matching grant to benefit the fund. This matching grant, active through August 21, 2017, will help encourage more supporters to come forward and enable PAMM to acquire world-class works by African American artists for generations to come. In the spirit of the Knight Foundation’s generosity, PAMM was honored to announce that fund ambassador member and trustee Dorothy A. Terrell personally donated $100,000 towards the match. Her donation, and the contributions of guests who were asked to support the fund as members on site that evening, will help shape the collecting of the institution and support the fund’s inclusive nature. PAMM Director Franklin Sirmans also announced the fund’s newest acquisitions, including major works by artists Kevin Beasley, Theaster Gates, Sam Gilliam, Martine Syms, and Juana Valdes, including donations by patrons Toni and Carl Randolph and Debi and Larry Hoffman, to an overflowing auditorium of more than 700 guests. The artworks represent a variety of artistic practices, ranging from sculpture and painting to photography and film. They explore a range of subjects relating to art and materiality, history, and the African diaspora, thereby adding important voices to the conversation in PAMM’s permanent collection. The lively event also featured special performances by Olujimi Dance Theater, Kahina: A Tangled Root, and a poetry reading by Aja Monet.

Intimate Dinner Previewing Forte Dei Marmi Restaurant and Arts Club

Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

Sara Slocum

Miami Beach, FL – December 17, 2016 – Tatiana Silva, Heather Kleisner, and Terry Zarikian previewed Two Michelin-Star Chef, Antonio Mellino’s cuisine at Forte Dei Marmi, the new restaurant and Arts Club situated in the renovated Italian oceanside villa by Chad Oppenheim located South of Fifth on Miami Beach. The intimate group of friends, who came together from different parts of the world, celebrated with organic wine and cocktails and a multi-course tasting menu, highlighting signature dishes created by Chef Mellino for this occasion as a “preview” of what’s to come. New York based composer Ricardo Romaneiro created the mood with his unconventionally melodic recorded sounds as the group continued partying back upstairs at the Arts Club after dinner. While Forte Dei Marmi restaurant and Arts Club gets ready to officially open on January 17, 2017,  a “preview” opening period starts December 21, 2016, offering an opportunity to enjoy, explore and share sophisticated epicurean experiences. The New Year’s Eve party will be a unique soiree featuring an unlimited flow of 2007 Vintage Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne, Forte Dei Marmi’s  specialty organic cocktails, a Bronze “Frutti De Mare” experience composed of seasonal oysters, Maine lobster, Petrossian organic caviar, Alaskan king crab, and a variety of inspired seafood salads. A live “fireworks” curated performance by resident artist Ricardo Romaneiro featuring Sandbox Percussion, Hannah Summer, Ramin & Justin Abrams followed by live DJ set by David Sisa. For more information regarding New Year’s Eve and other inquiries, please call 305.815.4360 or e-mail  [email protected].

Kehinde Wiley, Julio Le Parc & Franklin Sirmans Host Private Dinner in Celebration of Toys for Boys Issue 9

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

Kehinde Wiley & Julio Le Parc

Miami, FL – November 28, 2016 – As the sun set on day one of Art Basel Miami Beach week, Toys for Boys Magazine kicked things off with an elegant gathering of some of the week’s most relevant art talents. Cover stars Kehinde Wiley and Julio Le Parc were feted by a group of some 80 private collectors who came together to celebrate these great minds. Hosting alongside these men was Franklin Sirmans, director of the Perez Art Museum Miami, who came to Miami a year ago by way of LACMA just one year ago. The intimate dinner took place on royal tables that spanned the length of the PAMM terrace with views of the bay. Guests sipped Armand de Brignac champagne while exploring the latest, art-filled issue of Toys for Boys on Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition Tablets that were lapped in Kehinde Wiley art work as a limited edition gift for each guest. Similarly explorable on Samsung tablets was the JetSmarter software where members, both existing and new-to-join, booked flights to travel privately with their new friends. When they weren’t dining or dancing to the sounds of DJ Gabby Mejia, attendees enjoyed an offering of Roger Dubuis timepieces. In attendance were a cleverly orchestrated group of art enthusiasts, collectors and gallerists from the world over.
