Orlando, FL – August 23, 2010 – Red Eye took its cameras (blackberry camera) to Orlando this week to spend some quality time with the in-laws and nieces. Who says you cant take good photos with a Blackberry? I haven’t been to Disney World since grad night, and nothing has changed except my perspective. A place that once oooh’ed and ahhh’ed me now seems like an overpriced, homogenous, pool of germs. The food was bad, the hotels needed a make-over, and the August humidity was oppressive. My in-laws did it right though. An expediter is the ONLY way to hit the rides. As I entered the park, I wanted to capture a different side of Disney, so I immediately started shooting photos of crying kids, and believe me, they were everywhere. I actually got busted shooting one of them while Melissa tried to sneak a conference call in while we were at Cinderella’s castle. It was priceless. My niece Jordan, pictured here, got a princess make-over. They turned her into a mini pageant queen and in keeping with her down to earth nature, she stripped down and jumped in the pool when got back to the hotel, to get all of the ridiculous make up and hair extensions off. We all loved that even a four and half year old knew how ridiculous she looked, but the experience watching her was really great. The ho-down show down, the Mickey brunch, and Epcot were exactly as I remembered them as well. I guess Disney is timeless and watching the kids have the time of their life brought it all back.
